What is the PTA?
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. Today’s PTA is comprised of 5 million parents, teachers, grandparents, caregivers, foster parents and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health, and safety of all children. We speak with one voice for every child. Today, the issues affecting our children extend beyond their individual schools. The PTA’s nationwide network provides parents with the forum and tools to collectively influence the decisions that affect children not only at their schools, but also throughout their districts, within their states, and across the nation. This mission is unique to the PTA. Many benefits our children receive today, such as universal kindergarten, the National School Lunch Program, and a juvenile justice system, were accomplished as a result of the PTA mission.
How do we support our school?
- CRES PTA focuses on what our Centre Ridge students need to be successful in their learning, including nutrition, health, school safety, physical fitness and general well-being.
- The PTA works with the school and staff to ensure that children succeed.
- Involved parents understand the challenges schools face and become part of the solution. By developing a closer relationship with parents, student achievement improves, and the school develops a positive reputation in the community.
- Your CRES PTA organizes hard-working, dedicated volunteers. Parents are ready to help implement school improvement programs.
- Your PTA frequently coordinates production of information flyers, keeping the entire school community informed of current events, issues, and accomplishments. Regular meetings allow us to share information with our members.
- Financially, your PTA has been able to contribute to a number of events coordinated by our school and/or PTA.
