Here are some of the nomination letters received in the past.

Hannah Roukas

“Ms. Roukas makes the CRES community more fun and energetic, even
during a pandemic! She is the ever-loyal PTA Bingo Night emcee, and
she went above and beyond for our first Virtual Bingo Night to make it
interactive and engaging for all the families that played! She truly
cares about making CRES a welcoming and inclusive environment for all
in our community, which was evident by her even speaking Spanish to
some of our Bingo players. We couldn’t have made Bingo Night such a
success without Ms. Roukas!” – Bridget Hall

Mahjuba Wahab

I would like to recommend Ms. Wahab. She is a great IA and you know why? Because her special need students adore her. She always has a positive attitude even when she has a bad day and her kids are rough but she is always smiling. She is a team player. How many times we need to pull her from one class to another, she is there with no complaint. She works hard and works happy. For this reason I think she should be nominated.”

She is always in great spirits, helps the kids with special needs! She is beautiful on the outside and inside :)”

Mary Pierre

“Mary is an invaluable resource for the families at Centre Ridge.  She helps parents and students feel welcome and make important connections with classroom teachers.  This is especially helpful when students arrive to our school mid-year from other schools or countries. Mary goes above and beyond to make herself available to attend parent-teacher conferences, school events, grade-level functions, and spend time patiently with families.  She treats everyone with whom she works with the highest level of respect and genuinely cares about all families at Centre Ridge.  It is because of her that Spanish-speaking families in our school and community feel safe and welcome at Centre Ridge!”

Cecelia Belyea

“Here is our nomination for Cecelia Belyea for Staff Member of the Month. We love her!

Cecelia Belyea is a true team player. She is flexible and always willing to help out where help is needed. She began teaching at Centre Ridge last year (2015-2016) as a Special Education IA and quickly bonded with the students and teachers. Not only did she work closely with the classroom teachers and students, but she also collaborated with the specialists in order to support the students in those classes. She is very knowledgeable in special education and made special bonds with students who have challenging needs in a short period of time. While she doesn’t work with those same students this year, she continues to check in with them to see how they are doing and works hard to maintain that trusting relationship.

This year, as a Multiage IA, she continues to be extremely flexible as she bounces between working with two classes of students every day. She collaborates with the teachers to implement small group lessons with students and gives quality and immediate feedback on how students are progressing. Her patient, calm, and caring demeanor helps students feel safe and supported in all settings.  Here are some things the students have to say about her:

“I love Mrs. Belyea because she’s very nice and because I always get to do fun things with her and with our group.  We get new books and she helps me read words in the new books that I don’t know how to read. In math, she helps me add things together if I don’t know how to add them and she helps me with the coins.”

“I like reading books with Mrs. Belyea and she helps me practice my sight words. She teaches us how to figure out the words in a different way that makes sense to me. She helps me count money and that helps me learn.”

“She helps us at lunch with whatever we need. She also brought Fancy Nancy [pet chicken] to school in a cage. That was so much fun! I never saw an animal at school before and she taught us all about it!”

Additionally, Cecelia goes above and beyond to contribute to the students’ learning! She shares her love of cooking with the students by leading exciting classroom cooking projects. When the students were learning about animals, she brought in her pet chicken to share with the students for the day.  She is an invaluable asset to the Multiage team and to the Centre Ridge community! ” – Kristin & Lauren
